A. Crew:

1. You can start training in AP Status but must be BQ  status before requesting a QE.

5. Completed an approved Boating Safety Course such as:

a. About Boating Safely (ABS)

b. America's Boating Course (ABC)

c. USPS Boating Course

d. Boating Skills and Seamanship (BS&S)

6. Minimum of 16 underway training hours

 B. Coxswain:

1. Must be in BQ  Status

2. Not be in REYR as a Crew Member

3. 28 Hours underway as a qualified Crew Member

4. Operations Policy On-line  Exam

5. 4 Hour TCT (Within past 5 years)

6. Initial  NAV Rules-Proctored Exam  or taken within last five years.

C. PWC Operator:

1. 4 Hour TCT (Within past 5 years)

2. Operations Policy On-line  Exam

Currency Maintenance:

1. Currency maintenance insures that members maintain their proficiency and ability to safely perform their duties.

2. Crew Members, Coxswains and PWC Operators are required to be underway at least twelve(12) hours annually.

3. Attend a TCT refresher class by 31DEC each year.
   

Re-Qualifications:

1. Crew Members, Coxswains and PWC Operators are required to perform a set of tasks with a Qualification Examiner every third year.

2. The "year" begins on 1 January of the year following initial certification and currency requirements must be met by 31 December of that year.  Thus, if a member is certified as a Coxswain on 15 July 2009, that member's first currency year begins on 1 January 2010.  In this example, 3rd year currency requirements must be met by 31 December 2012.  Failure to meet currency requirements in any annual or the three-year cycle will cause a member's certification to lapse and the designation for this status is REYR.
