Subject:  NATIONAL SAFE BOATING WEEK 2007, MEGAWEEKS

                                           to the 4th of July

 

1.         The National Safe Boating Week, Megaweeks, and the 4th of July were all celebrated. Now the ISAR, the International Search and Rescue competition against the Canadian Auxiliary is underway.

 

The team that represents 1 SR, the First Southern Region of the U.S. Auxiliary comes from Division 2:  John Farrell, Fl. 24; Joe Antonaccio, Fl. 24; Peter Wilps, Fl. 26; Pat McHugh, Fl. 24.

 

On 21 July 2007, the competition of the U.S. Teams will continue at Cape May. We all are routing for a win of the U.S. team from the First Southern Region.

 

 

2.         Report to Harriet Howard, NSBW National Chair

             

            A report was sent to Harriet Howard, NSBW, National Chair, notifying her about the activity at 1SR during NSBW. A summary of the highlights follows:

 

            a. The addition of the Megaweeks up to the 4th of July after the NSBW was very welcomed as a means to increase the effectiveness of the NSBW.

 

            b.  It was helpful that the order form for the excellent materials of the National Safe Boating Council was available at the web.

 

            c.  Divisions participated in parades and received proclamation, honoring the National Safe Boating Week.

 

            d.  Every Week Marinas were available for vessel inspections, safety brochures and coloring books for children. 

 

            e.  ISAR competition has started. The team of the First Southern Region trained together all summer and they were awarded the First Place. On July 21, the competition

continues at Cape May with teams from other Districts.
